Overview

Building Surveyors inspect new and existing structures to provide professional advice, identify defects and advise on repair, maintenance and restoration as well as proactive measure to improve conservation and sustainability. Some Building Surveyors also offer project management and design services and others may specialise as Historic Building Preservation Surveyors. 

How do I get into this role?

Building Surveyors often require an RICS accredited degree and will often undertake further study to attain Chartered status. Those specialising in the preservation of historic buildings may undertake specialist and postgraduate studies.
