Architects and Architectural Technologists

Overview

Architects create the designs for new buildings and modifications to existing buildings, and can also advise on the restoration and conservation of historic structures. Architectural Technologists analyse those designs and apply their specialist knowledge of construction to identify the best materials and processes to use to transform the plans into viable construction projects.

How do I get into this role?

Architects typically require specialist degrees followed by professional accreditation. An Architectural Technologist requires similar technical and design skills but may not have completed a specialist degree, however this is generally required to achieve Chartered Architectural Technologist status.
